12 days Uganda Wild life and Nature Sighting Safari.

12 Days /11 nights Tour (Uganda). This Safari will take you to some of the interesting national parks of Uganda for an adventure of the Big 5, Gorillas, chimpanzees and relaxing activities like hikes and boat trips.
Day 1:
You will meet our guide from Big lion Safaris and briefs you on this tour then head for Ziwa rhino sanctuary. The rhino sanctuary is known for spotting white rhinos at a close range in the wild. The rhino is one of the big 5 experience, here you will have an hour of tracking these animals. After your rhino tracking have lunch and proceed your journey to Murchison falls National Park.
This park has a lot of exiting attractions, continue to check in to your accommodation. Dinner and over night at Pakuba safari lodge, or Fort Murchison lodge.
Day 2:
After your morning breakfast, you will hit the Savannah in search for more adventure. This park offers the best scenery for landscape and also the big 4. Today you will embark on a 3 hours game drive in to search for the big 4 which include the lion, leopard, buffalo and  elephant.OPTIONAL; (you may opt for a hot air balloon safari) at an additional cost. Other big game include giraffes, hippos, kobs, hartbeasts, warthogs, hyenas, jackals will be spotted. Break off at the hippo pool to see the Hippos at a closer range in the river Nile. Return back to the lodge for lunch and afternoon boat cruise to the summit of the Murchison falls. The cruise on the river is relaxing and also offers another opportunity for more animal sightings like the crocodiles, Hippos, elephants, the fish eagles,the king fishers, and lots of birds. Proceed with a hike to the top of the falls. It is another adventurous activity one shouldn’t miss. Dinner and over night at your lodge.
Day 3:
Today you will exit Murchison falls National Park and head to Fortportal city. This drive is a beautiful, driving through villages, beautiful countrysides, tea plantations and some encounter of the local community on the road. Preferred stops will be made to take photos of different sightings. You will drive through the rift valley escarpments of bulisa to view lake Albert from a distance.  After our lunch stop in fort-portal city, we shall transfer to the caves( amabere ga nyina mwiru) for another interesting cultural trail tour. There is a very beautiful falls which is believed to have happened after a princess breast was cut off by her father. You will enjoy all these stories. Dinner and over night at Fort motel/ Ducthess in Fort-potal.
Day 4:
Drive to Kibale NP and later proceed to explore the Kibale crater lakes. Relax, then continue to explore the craters with a hike to the top  of the world. A cluster of craters lakes was formed due to volcanic eruptions, 8000 years ago.Visit lake nkuruba  crater where one can swim. Primate sighting at lake nkuruba. Today we shall also visit the local community to learn how they prepare and distill their local gin. Dinner and overnight at chimpanzee guesthouse/Isunga lodge.
Day 5:
After breakfast head for  kibale national park for the morning briefing on the dos and don’ts during the search of the chimpanzees. This is going to be a guided chimpanzee trek. Other primates might be spotted during the walk, like the grey-cheeked mangabey, olive baboons, L’Hoest monkey and red colobus alongside the black and white colobus. After the trek head back to the lodge for lunch. Evening Bigodi swamp walk with the community guides will be undertaken in search for birds species and primates.  Relax at your lodge.
Day 6:
After breakfast, you will hit the road to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will drive through beautiful villages, with preferred stops to take photos in markets, beautiful banana plantations and the community. Enjoy the great views of Lake George. The park lies at the foothills of the legendary “Mountains of the Moon.” Check in at Buffalo Safari lodge, Park view or pumba cottages. After relaxing, head for the evening game drive where you will see buffaloes, warthogs, antelopes, and elephants along the way as you drive slowly to visit the Lake Katwe town with its gorgeous exhibit of crater lakes. Check out salt mining at lake katwe crater. You will have a chance to see the flamingos at this lake depending on the time of year. Return back to the lodge and rest.
Day 7:
Rise up early, take breakfast and thereafter head for a game drive  at the Kasenyi plains, your Safari guide will help to look for Lions, leopards, bushbuck, Uganda Kob, topi, Defassa waterbuck, and Cape buffaloes elephants, snakes to mention but a few. A collection of birds like Cassin’s grey flycatcher, broad billed roller, black bee-eater along the banks of Lake Edward. This can take you 3-4 hrs. Head back to the lodge for lunch.  Continue with an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel (2hrs) along lake George-lake Edward. The kazinga channel joins lake Gorge with Edward. You will have a chance to see great numbers of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes giant forest hogs, leopards though rarely spotted. And for the birders, there are over 550 resident species. Like the African data, Papyrus Gonolek, pink-backed pelicans, malachite kingfishers, yellow crown, water thick-knee, yellow-billed stork. Don’t forget your camera. Return to your lodge.
Day 8:
Head to Ishasha sector for game viewing and in search of tree-climbing lions as you transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable NP. Tree climbing lions are the major attractions of this area but the chance of seeing these lions in trees will always remain at 60%. Proceed to Bwindi national park a worldwide recognized habitat for the mountain gorillas. Sleep at enganzi, bakiga lodge or ichumbi lodge or broadbill lodge.
Day 9: 
Boost your morning with an early breakfast so that you energize before heading out to the jungle for the action of gorilla trekking. You will trek through the huge Bwindi forest as you search for the mountain gorillas to observe their behavior, this can take,2 hours, half-day or longer depending on the mobility of members in your group and the location of the Gorillas . A packed lunch is recommended and this will be had in the jungle in order to boost you up.. After tracking, go for a brief visits to the batwa (pygmies who used to live in the forest before it was gazetted as a national Park).You will transfer to Hawks eye, Lake Bunyonyi rock resort or Acadia cottages for a night.
Day 10: 
Lake Bunyonyi: enjoy a canoe ride or a boat cruise to explore the different islands of Lake Bunyonyi. Cruise to punishment island where Bakiga girls who became pregnant before marriage would be taken and left to die in isolation. Other islands of lake Bunyonyi include Akampene, Bushara, and Bucuraniko among others. In the afternoon,  interact with the community etc.
Day 11:
Transfer to Lake Mburo NP and enjoy a afternoon (evening) game drive in search for Zebras, topis, errands, buffaloes, leopards, warthhogs, waterbucks, girrafes,  and ‘impalas’ which are not easily observed anywhere else in Uganda. You could also opt for a night game drive for you to view some nocturnal game, like the leopards, white tailed mongoose, hyenas, night jars, oryx owls to mention but a few.( but for an additional cost payable at the park gates). Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 12:
After breakfast you will have a guided nature walk in the park. With an (armed ranger)This walk will get you close to the game. Learn and interact with these animals. There will also be a chance to spot birds at a closer range. You will then be transferred back to your final destination or airport with an en-route stop at the equator line for lunch.

Day 01 | Arrival – Transfer to Wilpattu – Anawilundawa Bird Sanctuary

Ayubowan !! Welcome to Sri Lanka. You will be met by guide from Real Lanka Holidays at the airport and and we will proceed for Wilpattu. we will check in to our first hotel near to Anawilundawa bird Sanctuary. After couple of hours rest we will explore the Anawilundawa Bird sanctuary.

Anawilundawa is a best place for photographers and nature lovers to see different kinds of birds in their natural habitats. This amazing bird sanctuary is located in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. The uniqueness of Anawilundawa is its immediate proximity to three vastly different ecosystems such as the coast, the mangroves and the fresh water tanks making it one of the six RAMSAR Wetlands in Sri Lanka.

Day 02 | Full day Birding in Wilpattu National Park

Today with our packed breakfast we will visit Wilpattu national park at early morning. Overnight stay will be Wilpattu national park.

Wilpattu National Park was originally declared as a Sanctuary in 1905 and upgraded as a National Park in February 1938. With an extent of 131,693 hectares, this is the largest National Park in the country. The main topographical feature in Wilpattu is the concentration of “villus” or lakes within the park. These water bodies though looking similar to lakes are formed by flat basin like depressions with the surface containing purely rain water. The park is unique in having a number of these with large sandy lake shores (Villus) which provide the animals with a continuous water supply during the dry season.  Two of these “villus” are saline due to a characteristic of the soil. This is a very scenic park.

Day 03 & 04 | Transfer to Nuwara eliya – Horton Plains National Park

After the breakfast we will travel to highest region in Sri lanka for see more birds. on our way to Nuwara eliya travellers can visit the Kandy cultural capital in Sri lanka. after the long drive.After the long drive we will relax at the hotel. We can roam around the city and have a nice Ceylon tea in the evening.  Next morning we will visit Horton Plains park for more birds. overnight stay will be Nuwara eliya.

Horton Plains Park – Having been protected as a nature reserve from December 1969 this park was upgraded as a National Park in March 1988. The park covers an area of 3,160 hectares of montane grassland fringed and interspersed with patches of dense montane cloud forests. This park and the adjoining peak wilderness form the most important catchment area for almost all the major rivers in the country. This is also the highest plateau of the country, being above 5000 feet, and the western slops of the park supports the most extensive area of montane cloud forests surviving in the country. There are motorable roads as well as foot paths to different location in the park including the locality referred to as the  “worlds end” which is a near vertical drop of 884m, and the picturesque Bakers falls etc. Most of the hill species of birds can be easily seen here during any walk in the park which is through forested areas, grasslands and streams. A walk to the “worlds end” is also through pristine hill bird habitat.

After breakfast you will transfer to Deniyaya village edge of the Sinharaja Rain Forest. Best place to explore the endemic birds of the country. Rest of the day you can relax at the hotel. Next day we will explore the Sinharaja rain forest by walk. Last day our guide will transfer you to departure terminal of the airport. Hope to see you again in Sri lanka . Sinharaja Rain Forest (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), an area of 18900 acres is located within southern provinces of Sri Lanka. It is home to over 50% of Sri Lanka’s endemic species of mammals and butterflies, as well as many kinds of insects, reptiles and rare amphibians. Sri Lanka’s tropical lowland rain forest has over 60% of the trees endemic and many of these are rare; there are 21 endemic bird species, and a number of rare insects, reptiles and amphibians. Sinharaja is biologically the most unique wet ever green rain forest in the country with an exceptionally high degree of endemism. Sinharaja is famous for its mixed feeding bird flocks and a high degree of endemic birds can be observed during the bird walks.

Your birding excursion in Ghana will kick start today in the morning with a visit to the open grassland savannah of Shai Hills, hoping to see and photograph some good savannah birds and birds that are associated with this site like White Crowned Cliff Chat, Stone Partridge, Blue Bellied Roller, Purple Roller, Violet Turaco, Senegal Parrot, Swallow Tailed Beeeater, Red Necked Buzzard, Oriole Warbler, Longcrested Eagle, Black Bellied Bustard, Temminck’s Courser, Chestnut Owlet, Red Shouldered Cuckooshrike, Whinchat, Flappet Lark, African Crake, Ahanta Francolin just to mention few.

After an early breakfast we will set off for the World Famous Canopy Walkway at Kakum National Park which is the leading destination for bird watching in Ghana.  A wonderful World of amazing canopy species awaits you out there. We hope to get there early hours to see the first light and record the first species that will fry out. An excellent forest about an hour drive from our guesthouse, this secondary semi deciduous forest protects a plethora of quality species that will enhance our list and overall experience. Species we hope to see and photograph here includes Red Billed Helmetshrike, Dwarf Bittern, Bristle Nosed Barbet, White Crested Bittern, Spot Breasted Ibis, Western Bronze Napped Pigeon, Afep Pigeon, Purple Throated Cuckooshrike, Spotted Honeyguide, Black Collared Lovebird, Brown Necked Parrot, Red Tailed Greenbul, Black Dwarf Hornbill, African Piculet, Naked Faced Barbet, Kemp`S Longbill, Black Bee-Eater, Forest Wood Hoopoe, Piping Hornbill, Akun Eagle Owl, Western Bearded Greenbul, Yellow Billed Barbet, Black Spinetail, Long Tailed Hawk, Black Throated Cuocal among others will be encountered here.

The key target for the day is Nkulengu Rail and we will be going all out to locate this rare species in the early morning hours. We will be searching for many upper guinea endemics  such as Hartlaub`s Duck, White Breasted Guineafowl, Yellow Casqued Hornbill, African Finfoot, Shining Blue Kingfisher, White Bellied Kingfisher, Cassin`s Flycatcher, Red Billed Dwarf Hornbill, Olive  Long Tailed And Dusky Long Tailed Cuckoo, Great Blue Turaco, White Throated Greenbul, Rufous Winged Illadopsis, Rufous Sided Broadbill, Shining Drongo, Forest Robin, Red Fronted Antpecker, Red Headed Quelea, Carmelite Sunbird, Reichenbach`s Sunbird, White Browed Forest Flycatcher, Red Chested Owlet, Common Cuckoo, Grey Throated Rail, Red Thighed Sparrowhawk, Olive Sunbird, Fraser`S Sunbird, Black Cuckoo, Yellow Billed Turaco, White Tailed Alethe, Western Black Headed And Black Winged Oriole Swamp Greenbul, Green Headed Sunbird, Golden Greenbul, Yellow Spotted Barbet, Yellow Throated Tinkerbird, Red Fronted Parrot including  more incredible species will be scanned here.

The big day is today.  We will be visiting the White Necked Rock-fowl nesting site, please make sure that you have enough memory card. We will check out of our hotel after an early breakfast and make our way to Bonlro village where we will be targeting some key species we missed during our days at other sites and get better views of species we just had brief views of, and the famous species and pre-historic bird (Yellow Headed Picathartes) will follow with much excitement. It is hard to contain your excitement as these legendary prehistoric looking birds hop and jump on the rocks whilst preening themselves just meters from your eyes giving photographers amongst you a busy time of the day. We will then continue our journey to Kumasi after we have enjoyed our target bird for the day.

Day 11…  Opuro Forest – Egyptian Plover Site.

Another important day for us to see our second target species of the trip, a well-known habitat for much sought after Egyptian plover, which is a family by itself. We will be scanning Opuro forest for many species that we have missed out in other areas including Superb Sunbird, Lesser Morehen, Grey Headed Bristlebill, Fiery Breasted Bushshrike, Black Sparrowhawk, Northern Puffback, Hamerkop just to mention few. We will then find our way to Egyptian Plover site after an incredible morning for this extraordinal bird. Species expected to see here includes Wire Tailed Swallow, Red Chested Swallow, African Moustached Warbler, Rufous Cisticola, Grey Rumped Swallow, Chestnut Backed Sparrow Lark, Red Billed Firefinch, White Headed Lapwing, White Helmetshrike, African Golden Oriole, Purple and Blue Bellied Roller, Lesser Blue Eared Starling, Gabar and Dark Chanting Goshawk, Purple Starling, Abyssinian Roller, Black Faced Quailfinch, Mosque Swallow, Yellow Billed Kite and more will be captured today.

After an early breakfast we will set off for an interesting forest in a transitional zone between the southern wetter forests and northern drier woodland habitats where we will find some quality species. It will be one of the difficult birding sorties you may take in this tour, but you will be happy with the walk when you get to see many regional specialties within close ranges. Species possible to see and photograph here include Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Denham`s Bustard, Forbes`s Plover, Four Banded Sandgrouse, Banded and Brown Snake Eagle, Egyptian Vulture, Martial Eagle, Swamp Flycatcher, Standard Winged and Freckled Nightjah, Grey Headed Bushshrike, Chestnut Crowned Sparrow Weaver, Brown Backed Woodpecker, Black Headed Heron, African Darter, Grasshopper Buzzard, Bateleur, Cabanis`s Bunting, Red Cheeked Cordon Blue, Red Winged and Yellow Winged Pytilia, Red Headed Weaver, Red Headed Quelea, Tropical Boubou, White Helmetshrike, Western Violet Backed Sunbird, Gambaga Flycatcher, Yellow Breasted Apalis, Willow and Melodious Warbler, Whinchat, Sun Lark, Grey Woodpecker, Cardinal Woodpecker, Greater Honeyguide, Lesser Hneyguide, Swallow Tailed Bee-Eater, Thick Billed Cuckoo, Helmeted Guineafowl and many more including different kinds of Monkeys, Antelopes, Elephant, Kob as well as Warthogs and Baboons will entertain you at the Motel.

Day 15…  Mole National Park – Kumasi.

We shall depart from Mole to Kumasi today. Along the way we will stop a couple to add some special to our list before we get to Kumasi. Depending on the time we will get to Kumasi we shall visit Bobiri forest if we still have time.

Day 16…  Bobiri Butterfly Sanctuary – Tafo.

Bobiri forest is one of the popular sites in Ghana where a number of Birds can be seen including a huge number of Butterflies which will add more taste to the tour. After early breakfast we will set off to Bobiri for some significant forest species like Narina`s Trogon, African Grey Parrot, Long Tailed Hawk, Narrow Tailed Starling, Tit Hylia, Forest Wood hoopoe, Black Sparrowhawk, Peregrine Falcon, Preuss`s Cliff Swallow, Compact Weaver, Simple, Plain and Ansorge`s Greenbul, Palmnut and Hooded Vulture, African Harrier Hawk, Velvet Mantled Drongo, Grey Throated, Dusky Blue, Fraser`s Forest and Red Bellied Paradise Flycatcher, Barn And Ethiopian Swallow, Green Headed Sunbird, African Cuckoo Hawk, Black Throated Coucal, Little Grey Flycatcher, Velvet Mantled Drongo, Black Winged Oriole just to mention few.

Day 17…  Atewa Range Forest Reserve – To Accra – To the Airport.  

An early start as we head back into the Upper Guinea Rainforest habitat where so many of Ghana’s sought after special species are found. This morning we hope to see Tit Hylia, Green Hylias, Chestnut Winged Starling, Black Winged Oriole, Western Black Headed Oriole, Sooty Boubou, Blue Headed Crested Flycatcher, Yellow Billed Barbet, Grey Headed And Red Tailed Bristlebills and The Much Sought After Yellow Footed Honeyguide , Black Necked, Maxwell`s Black, Compact and Grosbeak Weavers, Whistling Cisticola, Black Crowned and Brown Crowned Tchagra, African Emerald Cuckoo, Klaas’s, Levaillant`s , Yellow Throated and Didric Cuckoo, Red Bellied Paradise Flycatcher, Western Bluebill, Tessmann’s Flycatcher and if we are lucky Baumann’s Greenbul among others will be seen. After an incredible scan this day at Atewa we will then go to our hotel to shower, enjoy some meal before we find our way to the Airport to say goodbye to Ghana.
